Happy 22nd Month
- - -
From 2010, 9:56 p.m.
"As I write this, my eyes keep trailing to the dried and spiky cuticles along my fingers. They form a stubborn fringe at the base of each nail. It's so tempting to pick at them. But then I can almost hear him say, 'Baby stop,' and just that alone makes me miss him so much. I don't have anyone else in New York who cares about the scratchy state of my finger flesh. A concern like that, though little, is so specific -- so particular to us -- that I find it all the more dear."- - -
It's just past Thanksgiving now. I've been unpacking for the last hour and in a folder marked with a big green "B," I came across the following letter from Drew around the same time that I had journaled the snippet above.
I am thankful for the 22 months we've spent together.
Happy anniversary, from P. to Bear!

Grey's
Man I'm really missing the days when I'd get all blue and teary over Grey's Anatomy. The drama of Derek Shepard and Meredith Grey, and Cristina and Burke.
Probably feeling this way 'cause I'm listening to Scratch by Kendall Payne. Good song, btw.

Babes
"Oh man you know what’s really good? Babes. I love babes. And by that I don’t just mean good-looking people, but also those with good hearts and sexy brains because that’s usually way more impressive. Babe love.
babes are my favourite thing in the whole entire world, even more than shiny things."

"I never meant to fall in love, not with Harry’s girl… It was very cold and I got up to close the window curtains. I only noticed my hand was on hers when I took it away.
As I stood up I looked down at her face and she was looking up. It wasn’t a beautiful face – that was the trouble. It was a face to live with, day in, day out. A face for wear. I felt as though I’d come into a new country where I couldn’t speak the language. I had always thought it was beauty one loved in a woman.
I stood there at the curtains, waiting to pull them, looking out. I couldn’t see anything but my own face, looking back into the room, looking for her.”

Holden
"I'm not too crazy about describing rooms and houses anyway. So what I did, I wrote about my brother Allie's baseball mitt. It was a very descriptive subject. It really was. My brother Allie had this left-handed fielder's mitt. He was left-handed. The thing that was descriptive about it, though, was that he had poems written all over the fingers and the pocket and everywhere. In green ink. He wrote them on it so that he'd have something to read when he was in the field and nobody was up at bat."

From Kristen
"This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and His love is made complete in us.
We know that we live in Him and He in us, because He has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent His Son to be the Savior of the world.
If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in her and she in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.
God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in her. In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like Him.
There is no fear in love.
But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
We love because He first loved us."
1 John 4:10 to 19
